• Description: The basic idea of the lesson is to familiarize the students with the elements that compose a simple electric circuit (as well as electric circuits in general) and to introduce them to both parallel and in series circuit setups. After that they formulate their hypotheses and conduct scientific investigations in order to compare the electric current flowing through each light bulb between two setups (in series and parallel) and with the brightness of the bulb of a simple circuit. They will also compare the electric current flowing through each light bulb in two setups with the electric current flowing through the simple electric circuit and understand what happens to the electric current when they add more light bulbs. Then, they will investigate what happens to the light bulbs in each setup if a bulb blows out. Then, they will form conclusions based on the evidence collected and decide the setup that light bulbs in a house are connected.
